At 19, I wasn't afraid of dying. I was afraid of what staying alive looked like — long nights, lost weekends, too exhausted to enjoy the rare moments off. Replaying that for 45 years. I had a dreadful realisation: I'd rather not live than live that way.
That didn't break me. It freed me. I quit, came back, and made a decision — not about success, but about refusing to watch people who actually care get crushed by people who don't. I would find out exactly how to change that.
So I went to the source. Not motivation. The actual mechanism — why we reason the way we do. Why fear disguises itself as logic. Why a team can hear a vision and not feel it. Why a market can see an offer and not move.
The same mechanism keeping a person stuck is the same mechanism stopping a customer from buying. Marketing and personal development aren't different fields. They're the same system at different scales.
